For better or for worse, we live in a mediascape where pay-for-play is common. Even as a writer, sometimes I have trouble knowing which interviews are sponsored and where my sources’ priorities lie.
There have been some notable updates to pay-for-play policies are different publications, namely, Eat This Not That recently announced that they will no longer be accepting crowd-sourced product recommendations as well as Dotdash Meredith who has had a long-standing policy against interviewing sources with financial ties to the product or story.
In light of these changes, we are hosting a coffee chat to talk about our current experiences at our publications, and how we can move forward with the changes in these policies.
Join me and my freelance writer friend Melissa Boufounos are on for a virtual coffee chat this Friday, May 10th at 2 pm Eastern.
